Mintera Claims Fiber Optic Transmission Record

LOWELL, Mass., Sept. 11 -- Mintera Corp., the leader in 40G transport solutions for metro-core, regional, long haul and ultralong haul applications, said it demonstrated error-free transmission of 40 channels at 40 Gb/s over a record distance of 5,200 Km of UltraWave fiber without electrical regeneration. This was achieved with typical terrestrial optical amplifier spacing of 100 Km, channel spacing of 100 GHz and by using all-Raman amplification, the company said.

"Mintera's record-breaking results represent a new proof point that 40 Gb/s ultralong haul optical transport is being commercialized and demonstrates our continued commitment to advancing the state of the art while delivering on our vision of a new wave in network economics," said Menachem Abraham, Mintera president and CEO.

Mintera will present details about the technology and test results at the 28th European Conference on Optical Communication this week in Copenhagen.
