LONDON, June 6 -- Fibreway, a subsidiary of Marconi plc., will increase its fiber-optic network in four countries thanks to its recent acquisition of fiber on Viatel's Pan-European Network. Fibreway plans to combine its UK network with Viatel's to provide its customers with advanced broadband services throughout Northern Europe. These broadband services will be provided via Marconi plc.'s optical transmission equipment. This agreement with Viatel provides pan-European connectivity for Fibreway's high-capacity backbone network, said George Simpson, chief executive of Marconi. This is an important step for Fibreway in executing its strategy to become a preferred provider of advanced broadband services.
