Precision optical systems provider Leica Microsystems GmbH of
Wetzlar, Germany, has acquired Genetix Ltd. of New Milton, UK, a provider of solutions
for imaging and image analysis. The transaction will combine the latter company’s
imaging systems and software expertise with the former company’s microscopes
and other life sciences instrumentation. Under terms of the agreement, the UK-based
company will exist as a separate business unit within the German company, and its
products will continue to be marketed and sold through existing channels.
