Laser Energetics Completes Laser Study
Princeton, N.J.-based Laser Energetics Inc. (LEI), a maker of lasers for industrial, scientific, medical and military applications, announced yesterday that it has completed a study on its BrightStar Alexandrite laser, funded by an undisclosed defense company for $25,000. The study compared 18 lasers from various manufacturers for a military remote-sensing laser application; LEI said its laser placed in the top three. The tunable, solid-state Alexandrite lasers, which incorporate a DP Nd:YAG laser pump as the excitation source, can be used on the battlefield for the detection of chemical and biological warfare agents and in homeland security applications for high explosives detection, LEI said.
