LG.Philips LCD Co. Ltd. recently announced it will increase the design capacity of its seventh-generation thin-film transistor LCD plant (P7) in Paju, Korea, from 90,000 to 110,000 input sheets of glass substrate per month by the third quarter of 2007. The plant produced an average of 78,000 sheets per month in the fourth quarter of 2006. P7 (1950 X 2250mm glass substrate) is optimized for the production of 42- and 47-inch LCD TV panels, The company said the expansion will help strengthen its market leadership and competitiveness and enhance its presence in the global LCD TV market. LG.Philips LCD, based in Seoul, makes thin-film transistor LCD panels for use in TVs, monitors, notebook PCs and other applications. It operates seven fabrication facilities and four back-end assembly facilities, in Korea, China and Poland.
