Koheras to Market Aculight's Argos in Europe

Laser technology developer Aculight Corp. of Bothell, Wash., and fiber laser maker Koheras of Birkerød, Denmark, announced they have signed a joint marketing agreement for Aculight's Argos single-frequency, continuous-wave, multiwatt tunable optical parametric oscillator (OPO) that Argos.jpgcontains Koheras' single-frequency fiber lasers. Argos is used in high-resolution spectroscopy applications such as photoacoustic and cavity-ringdown spectroscopy, atom trapping, chemical sensing, and medical applications. Koheras will exclusively sell and market Argos in the UK, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and the Nordic countries. With the official European launch of the Argos OPO this month, Koheras and Aculight are jointly presenting a demo system at the DPG Spring Meeting in Darmstadt, Germany (March 11-13, level E0, Booth 003), and LOB, Laser Optik Berlin (March 17-19, Hall 18, Booth 404).

Glossary
chemical sensing
Chemical sensing refers to the detection and measurement of specific chemical compounds or substances in various environments or samples. It involves the use of sensors or analytical techniques to detect, identify, and quantify the presence of target molecules based on their chemical properties. Chemical sensing plays a crucial role in a wide range of fields, including environmental monitoring, industrial process control, biomedical diagnostics, food safety, and security. Principles of...
nano
An SI prefix meaning one billionth (10-9). Nano can also be used to indicate the study of atoms, molecules and other structures and particles on the nanometer scale. Nano-optics (also referred to as nanophotonics), for example, is the study of how light and light-matter interactions behave on the nanometer scale. See nanophotonics.
optical parametric oscillator
A laser-pumped crystal with nonlinear optical properties inside of an optical resonator in which the output generates coherent light whose output can be tuned continuously over a variety of infrared and visible wavelengths. The OPO generates a short wavelength component called the signal and a longer wavelength component called the idler. Conservation of energy dictates that the sum of the photon energy of the signal and that of the idler equals the original pump photon energy.
photoacoustic
Photoacoustic refers to the generation of acoustic (sound) waves following the absorption of light (usually laser pulses) by a material. This phenomenon occurs when light energy is absorbed by a material, leading to localized heating and subsequent thermal expansion, which generates pressure waves (sound waves) that can be detected using ultrasonic sensors. The photoacoustic effect is utilized in various scientific and medical applications, including: Photoacoustic imaging (PAI): A...
photonics
The technology of generating and harnessing light and other forms of radiant energy whose quantum unit is the photon. The science includes light emission, transmission, deflection, amplification and detection by optical components and instruments, lasers and other light sources, fiber optics, electro-optical instrumentation, related hardware and electronics, and sophisticated systems. The range of applications of photonics extends from energy generation to detection to communications and...
