Karlheinz Strobl Joins CVD Equipment as Business Development VP

Strobl.jpgCVD Equipment Corp. of Ronkonkoma, N.Y., a maker of chemical vapor deposition and other equipment used in manufacturing semiconductors, carbon nanotubes, LEDs, microelectromechanical systems and other electronic components, materials and coatings for research and industrial applications, announced it has appointed technology industry veteran Karlheinz Strobl, PhD, as vice president of business development. Strobl will be responsible for new product, process and market development, especially in nanotechnology, solar and clean-energy markets. Before joining CVD, Strobl worked for  optics, medical, electroforming and thin-film coating companies, most recently as president of eele Laboratories, a projection display technology company he founded in 1997. Strobl was previously a researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico and a research scientist at both the University of Iowa and the University of Rome, Italy. He has an MBA from Boston University; an MS in theoretical physics from the University of Innsbruck, Austria; an MS from the University of Padua, Italy; and a PhD in experimental physics from the University of Innsbruck for research work at the Max Planck Institute in Garching, Germany. He holds 14 patents and has contributed to 43 publications and conference presentations. His industry awards include a Photonics Circle of Excellence Award from Photonics Spectra magazine for a medical product and an Industry R&D 100 Award for a noninvasive cancer detection system. His funding grants include Phase I and Phase II United States Display Consortium grants for a custom electrochemical and thin film-based technology required to commercialize a novel projection display light source.

chemical vapor deposition
