AMSTERDAM, May 4 -- KPNQwest has signed a five-year contract worth 7.25 million EURO to provide Internet-related services to scientific research institutions in Germany. KPNQwest will provide data network BelWu -- Baden-Wurtemberg -- which is used by German scientific institutions, with bandwidth capacity and connect the institutions' sites to its high-speed Internet access network. KPNQwest, a joint venture between Dutch KPN Telecom and US carrier Qwest Communications International, is developing a 20,000 km fiber optic network across Europe, providing business customers with high-speed Internet access services.
