Jazztel and NETs Sign Fiber Optic Network Agreement

MADRID, Spain, Jan. 30 -- Jazztel plc. and the Nuevo Mercado in Spain, a facilities-based telecommunications and Internet services provider in Spain and Portugal, have signed a commercial agreement with NETS, a pan-European fiber optic network operator and subsidiary of the Italian telecommunications group, Tiscali. The agreement, which has a one-year renewable contract, is designed to expand both companies' broadband networks.
Jazztel will provide NETS with access to points of presence (POP) in selected cities as well as offer access to its main network in those areas in which NETS does not currently operate.
NETs currently operates a ring of fiber optic networks between Bilbao, Madrid, and Valenciawhich will soon extend out to Barcelona, with information centers providing warehousing services in each of the above mentioned cities, said Thierry Tomiet, managing director of NETS. Thanks to this agreement with Jazztel, we will be working with the leading Spanish operator to expand the Tiscali Group within Spain. Procter & Gamble to Deploy Corning Fiber throughout Network in CincinnatiCINCINNATI, Ohio, Jan. 30 -- Corning Inc. and Procter and Gamble announced that Corning MetroCor fiber has been selected for Procter & Gamble's new high-speed private transport network. The network will circle the greater Cincinnati metropolitan area extending over 60 miles and will connect Proctor & Gamble's seven major locations. Installation is slated to begin immediately with completion expected by end of the third quarter.
