WARWICK, R.I., Sept. 21 -- Infinite Group Inc. said that Laser Fare Advanced Technology Group (ATG), Infinite's R&D unit, has been selected as one of this year's recipients of the Tibbetts Award by the US Small Business Administration for its work in grating coupled surface emitting lasers (GCSELS).
"The Tibbetts Award is made annually to those firms that exemplify the very best in SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) achievement," said Clifford Brockmyre, CEO of Infinite. "Our original work in high powered diode lasers was funded by the Department of Defense (DOD) through the Air Force Research Laboratory Directed Energy Directorate in New Mexico. Our success under this program built the foundation for our Infinite Photonics subsidiary in Orlando, FL. The devices have applications in the telecommunications, materials processing and medical markets." The Air Force Research Laboratory is the primary DOD component working on high-powered diode lasers.
