CORNING, N.Y., Jan. 5 -- Corning Inc. will provide Impsat Fiber Networks Inc. with LEAF fiber as the optical backbone for the next phase of Impsat Fiber Network's South American network. The network will link the cities of Curitiba and Porto Alegre in Brazil with Parana in Argentina, as well as points in Chile. We are pleased to have Corning as a provider of our optical foundation, said Ricardo Verdaguer, Impsat's CEO. Impsat Fiber Network will ensure high-capacity and high-performance connectivity for our increasing number of corporate customers across Latin America. Our regional network ensures our customers an optical backbone that is flexible and upgradeable. Last year Impsat announced that it would deploy 2000 route kilometers to create the first seamless connection between Rio de Janeiro and Santiago, Chile. This is the second time Impsat has chosen Corning's LEAF fiber for its recently launched network.
