Fabless CMOS chip provider Luxtera Inc. of Carlsbad, Calif., today announced the appointment of Greg Young as its new president and CEO. Young has over 15 years of semiconductor industry experience, most recently with Broadcom, where he was vice president and general manager of the Ethernet Controller and High Definition Media PC Video business units. Before that, he held several leadership engineering and marketing positions at Intel. Young succeeds Alex Dickinson, who will remain on the board of directors. Luxtera said Young will lead the company (a spinoff of the California Institute of Technology) as it applies its Blazar CMOS photonics device technology -- a 40 Gb optical active cable -- to the networking and consumer electronics markets.
