Optic and photonic products manufacturer Gooch and Housego announced today it has received a vendor appreciation award from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in Livermore, Calif., in recognition of the high quality of its crystal quartz wave plates and customer service. The wave plates, supplied by Gooch & Housego UK in Ilminster, England, over the last four years, are key components of the laser preamplifier modules used in the National Ignition Facility (NIF) at LLNL. Gooch & Housego CEO Gareth Jones said, "It is a great honor to receive this award, and it is testament to the hard work and dedication we have put in to this contract. We have now built a strong relationship with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and hope it will continue in the future." The award was presented to Jones last month at SPIE Photonics West 2008 in San Jose, Calif., by Tom Simon, technical representative for LLNL.
