LAVAL, Quebec, Canada, May 17, 2012 — Genia Photonics announced it has received $300,000 in financial assistance from the Canadian government to acquire state-of-the-art production equipment and laboratory materials.
The repayable funding was awarded under the Canada Economic Development’s business and regional growth program and could result in the creation of 22 jobs by 2014.
“The economy and job creation are key priorities for the government of Canada,” said Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada. “This financial contribution to Genia Photonics illustrates our firm commitment to supporting enterprises that are putting strategies in place and are thereby creating wealth and prosperity in their regions.”
The new production equipment and laboratory facilities will enable the company to meet growing customer demand and to further accelerate research and development work it has initiated over the past two years.
