G&H Joins Philumina in HSI Expansion

Gooch & Housego and PhiLumina LLC have entered into a collaborative agreement expanding capabilities and offerings for hyperspectral imaging (HSI) applications.

The agreement enables PhiLumina to integrate its HSI scanning products and software into G&H’s Life Science and Instrumentation division to further develop and enhance spectral imaging technology based on high-speed acousto-optic tunable filters (AOTFs).

The companies expect this will expand their respective client bases, while allowing G&H to offer PhiLumina’s modular and customizable spectral imaging software and capabilities.

In addition, PhiLumina will bring its existing spectral imaging systems and technologies to the table through G&H marketing and distribution channels.

“This collaborative agreement will allow G&H to deliver better on its promise of fully application-specific spectral imaging tools,” said Alex Fong, senior VP of the G&H Life Science and Instrumentation division.

He added that the company’s AOTF technology allows “rapid sequential and nonsequential center wavelength access, selectable bandwidth sizes” and speeds that are 1000 times faster than comparable technologies; hyperspectral data sets can then be acquired as quickly as a camera can acquire images.

Glossary
hyperspectral imaging
Hyperspectral imaging is an advanced imaging technique that captures and processes information from across the electromagnetic spectrum. Unlike traditional imaging systems that record only a few spectral bands (such as red, green, and blue in visible light), hyperspectral imaging collects data in numerous contiguous bands, covering a wide range of wavelengths. This extended spectral coverage enables detailed analysis and characterization of materials based on their spectral signatures. Key...
