GD to Make Navy Consoles

FAIRFAX, Va., Nov. 13, 2007 -- General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems was awarded a contract potentially worth $83 million to make common enterprise display system (CEDS) consoles for US Navy Ships from the Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington Navy Yard, D.C.

The contract is for a Navy destroyer and for a weapons system used by the Navy to track and destroy enemy targets. General Dynamics will provide program management, engineering, manufacturing, integrated logistics support, tests and evaluations for the multilevel security systems as part of DDG 1000 and Aegis modernization. General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems is a business unit of General Dynamics.

The systems have an intended service life of 30 years, the company said.

General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems is leading a group of businesses on the contract that includes General Dynamics C4 Systems in Scottsdale, Ariz.; 901D in Tallman, N.Y.; Themis Computing in Fremont, Calif.; Argon ST in Smithfield, Penn.; Paradigm Technologies in Arlington, Va. and Huntsville, Ala; and Klett Consulting Group in Virginia Beach, Va. Work is expected to be completed by November 2008.

DRS C3 Systems LLC of Gaithersburg, Md., was awarded a $62,627,233 phase II contract for CEDS development. Work will be performed in Duluth, Ga.; Gaithersburg, Md.; Dahlgren, Va.; Johnstown, Pa.; and Chesapeake, Va.
