TOKYO, Aug. 20 -- Furukawa Electric Co. said that it will sell part of its holdings in Canadian fiber optic component maker JDS Uniphase Inc. to net 23.8 billion yen ($198 million) in capital gains. The company needs cash partly to pay for its recent decision to acquire Lucent Technologies Inc.'s fiber optic cable unit. Furukawa's stake in JDS Uniphase will fall to 8.2 percent from 9.8 percent as a result of the sale, Furukawa said in a statement.
