PORTLAND, Ore., Dec. 8 -- Flir Systems Inc. announced today it has been awarded a contract from the US government for an advanced version of its 9-inch stabilized electro-optical surveillance system. The contract has a maximum value of $75 million for the delivery of up to 200 systems over a five-year period.
The contract was competitively awarded and resulted in an initial delivery order of $328,893 for the first production representative sample and training. Subsequent orders will be based on evaluation of the sample unit, future funding availability and the results of competitive trials. Initial deliveries will take place in the first quarter of 2005. All work will be performed at Flir's facility in North Billerica, Mass.
Flir Systems makes infrared imaging systems for a variety of applications, such as public safety, defense, navigation, electronic newsgathering and search and rescue. Its thermography products support applications such as condition monitoring, nondestructive testing, medical science, research and development and manufacturing process control.
