Flir Awarded $25M Contract From US Ally
WILSONVILLE, Ore., Nov 26, 2013 — Flir Systems Inc. has been awarded a contract by a Middle East customer valued at $25 million for gyro-stabilized multispectral sensor systems, the company said recently.
The contract is from a US ally, the company said, and is for its StarSAFIRE 380 HLD gimbaled multispectral imaging and laser designation system that includes technology to automatically detect and track multiple moving targets.
“MTI [moving target indicator] is the latest video analytic enhancement Flir has added to its product portfolio and it represents a game-changing technology that significantly improves the effectiveness of tactical missions,” said Flir president and CEO Andy Teich.
The system also includes a state-of-the-art, high-duty-cycle, diode-pumped laser that is compatible with NATO standards, Flir said. Work under the award is expected to be performed at the company’s Wilsonville facility and to be completed by 2015.
