SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 11 -- Finisar Corp., a provider of network performance tools and fiber optic subsystems, and the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) have formed a partnership to develop and deliver SANmark qualification testing of Fibre Channel products.
Finisar will provide the laboratory with Fibre Channel testing tools including its Xgig analyzers, error injectors and generators and with updated SANmark testing scripts. UNH-IOL engineers will provide detailed SANmark testing and qualification to vendors of Fibre Channel products looking to pass the SANmark qualification standards.
Finisar said Fibre Channel networks are typically held to a higher standard because of the role they play in safeguarding corporate data.
"The SANmark qualification program is helping the industry rapidly approach a higher level of 'plug-and-play' interoperability that has been available with competing protocols," Finisar said. "When the nonprofit Fibre Channel Industry Association designed the nonpartisan SANmark program, its goal was to ensure Fibre Channel device interoperability in a heterogeneous SAN environment."
The SANmark program provides several levels of Fibre Channel compliance testing required for reliable, high-speed communication in typical SAN environments, including host adapters, hubs, switches, storage subsystems and SCSI-to-Fibre Channel bridges.
