WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Aug. 21 -- Fiberspace Inc., a provider of wavelength stabilization solutions for the optical networking industry, announced it has acquired Tunable Photonics Corp. (Altadena, Calif.), a privately held company specializing in solutions for network tunability.
Fiberspace will offer Tunable Photonics' TrueLock external and internal wavelength lockers and TrueMap laser characterization system alongside its ultrastable tunable laser sources for a full line of wavelength stabilization solutions. The company will also support Tunable Photonics' relationships with existing customers, suppliers and partners. Also as part of the agreement, Fiberspace will obtain a sizable patent portfolio from Tunable Photonics, including some technology originating from NASA/Caltech's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena.
George Balogh, CEO of Tunable Photonics, said "I believe this combination is an excellent move for both Fiberspace and Tunable Photonics. Our company brings a wealth of innovation and marketing expertise, and Fiberspace, with its strong venture-backing, can afford to quickly bring our products to the mass production level."
