BOSTON, June 30 -- FiberGrade Inc., a Boston startup developer of optical transmission monitoring technologies, has been acquired by PXIT, a manufacturer of high-performance optical and electrical test equipment based in Dublin, Ireland, with an office in Lexington, Mass. The acquisition was funded by a total investment of over $3 million, primarily from the venture capital company 4th Level, in addition to an investment from existing shareholders Delta Partners.
FiberGrade was founded in 2002 by Fadi Daou, its president and CTO, from the Photonics Center at Boston University (BU). FiberGrade's vector sampling signal analyzers, now part of PXIT's product portfolio, are signal integrity-testing solutions for broadband electro-optical signals.
PXIT was formed through the merger of Tsunami Photonics Ltd. and PX Instrument Technology in May 2003. PXIT manufactures high-performance optical and electrical PXI modules used to test photonic components in the telecommunications, data communications and lighting markets. It also offers test and measurement solutions to manufacturers of laser diode, LED and PLC components.
