ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 5 -- The Florida Electro-Optics Industry Association Inc. (FEOIA) has elected its Board of Directors for the 2001-2002 term.
The new team of officers and board of directors are excited by the opportunity to create a cluster of laser and photonic companies in Florida, said Jeffrey Saunders, FEOIA president. Ultimately the success of the organization will be driven by the member companies and the economic community.
The new board consists of M.J. Soileau, University of Central Florida; Dennis Killinger, University of South Florida; Harold Cates, Lockheed Martin; Randy Berridge, Florida High Tech Corridor Council; Peter Panousis, University of Central Florida; Paul Suchoski, JDS Uniphase; and John E. Krug, Economic Development Commission.
In addition to electing a new board, the FEOIA presented goals and objectives for 2001 to be reviewed by the members. The goals consist of fostering the expansion and growth of Florida's optics and photonics industry by partnering with economic development organizations, universities and local and state governments. The FEOIA also plans to market Florida's optics and photonics companies worldwide, facilitate and provide a means of communications within the business community and partner with the Florida education community to enhance and develop a competent statewide optics and photonics-based workforce.
