FT. WORTH, Texas, May 29 -- EyeTicket Corp. and Sabre Holdings Corp. announced their joint selection by the International Air Transport Association to demonstrate new Simplified Passenger Travel concepts for senior airline industry executives at the IATA World Air Transport Summit (WATS) general meeting in Madrid, Spain, May 27-29. Delegates to WATS will be admitted to the event hall using the EyeTicket Passenger Processing system. The EyeTicket system uses iris recognition to provide almost instantaneous check-in for flights; after a one-time enrollment, the passenger checks in electronically by looking into an ordinary video camera for one second, virtually eliminating queuing. The system will print a boarding pass, or transmit a paperless electronic boarding pass to a handheld device carried by the passenger. EyeTicket and Sabre will represent the IATA Simplified Passenger Travel Interest Group in this demonstration of biometric passenger processing concepts to aviation industry leaders from around the world. With IATA projections showing world air traffic doubling within the next 10 years, IATA members are highly motivated to apply new technology to help efficiently process the increase in passengers.
