HAIFA, Israel, Sept. 1 -- Elbit Systems Ltd. has been awarded a contract to supply night vision systems for the Australian Army's Black Hawk helicopters. The contract calls for Elbit Systems to supply 12 Aviators Night Vision Imaging System/Head Up Display (ANVIS/HUD) systems to Raytheon Systems Co. Australia, a subsidiary of Raytheon Co.
The ANVIS/HUD system enables pilots to receive mission information without relying on cockpit instruments. All necessary flight data is projected into a head-mounted system, which allows pilots to focus their attention outside the cockpit and increases flight safety during low-level, high-speed night operations.
