BARRINGTON, N.J., August 28 -- Edmund Industrial Optics announced it has renewed contracts with General Dynamics Land Systems to produce components for primary gunner's sights used in the M1A1 Abrams tank program. The complete assembly contains over 25 components, including lenses, prisms and mirrors, to be manufactured by Edmund's facilities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Singapore.
The company will provide General Dynamics with high-resolution prisms, precision mirrors and filters, tight tolerance lenses and other high-precision flat work.
Edmund President John Stack said, "Due to the precision needed, very few optics manufacturers can provide the prisms used in primary gunner's sights. Our facility in Singapore is one of the only sources of these components."
The three-year contract specifies some 25 optical components for use in primary gunner's sights and calls for Edmund to provide 350 units each. For more information, visit www.edmundoptics.com
