NEW YORK, April 9, 2007 -- Registration is available online for Display Week 2007, which will be part of the Society for Information Display's 2007 International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition (SID 2007), being held May 20-25 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif.

Now in its 45th year, SID 2007 will attract scientists, engineers, manufacturers and users involved in the electronic display industry. The event provides access to technology and applications from high-definition flat panel displays using both emissive and liquid crystal technology to the latest in OLED displays and large-area projection-display systems. Information on image processing, systems software and display processor hardware, human factors and applied vision, and exciting new applications such as multimedia and electronic cinema will be among topics. The exhibition will feature 550 booths and and expected 8000 attendees.

This year, Display Week will feature SID Connect, a social networking program that brings together vendors and attendees with similar interests and then helps them book meetings with them at the show.

An invitation to sign up for SID Connect will be sent to those who register for Display Week, the exhibition component of the SID 2007 symposium. The exhibition will highlight recent innovations from display industry giants to small, startup operations.

"With 547 booths booked so far, we are rapidly approaching last year's all-time high of 577 exhibits," SID said in a statement Along with hundreds of returning exhibitors, this year SID will also welcome 37 new companies.

SID said it has received 702 submitted papers for the conference, one of the largest number of submissions in its history. A four-day symposium comprising 67 technical sessions will feature 280 papers and a poster session with 206 presentations.

Liquid crystal technology and organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) are the two categories that will be most represented at the symposium: 93 papers will be presented in the liquid crystal technology (47 oral, 46 poster) category, and 86 papers (45 oral, 41 poster) on OLEDs. Paper topics will also include active-matrix devices, display applications, applied vision, display electronics, emissive displays, field emitter displays, display manufacturing, display measurement, projection and display systems: 61 total papers.

The SID Business Conference continues to be an important components of Display Week. The business conference, to take place May 21 and 22, will feature talks by executives from leading display industry organizations, a luncheon, a networking reception and keynote addresses.

"As the display industry continues to grow, the SID Business Conference is the preeminent forum for exploring how this dynamic business has reached its current state, and where it will go from here," SID said.

In the five years since the conference debuted in 2003, the worldwide display market has increased almost 70 percent; in 2007, it is expected to exceed $100 billion for the first time, according to market research firm DisplaySearch, SID said.
