LOGAN, Utah. Nov. 10, 2025 — Wasatch Photonics has been acquired by FOSS Group, a Danish provider of analytical solutions mainly used in the agricultural and food industries. The transaction, valued at just under DKK 250 million (~$39 million), adds Wasatch's spectrometers, gratings, and OCT solutions to FOSS' portolfio.

Founded in 2002, Wasatch Photonics is a supplier of transmission gratings and spectrometers for applications ranging from Raman spectroscopy, OCT, astronomy, and laser pulse compression, serving markets in the medical, defense and security, laser manufacturing, and material processing industries. The company has offices in North Carolina and Utah and employs around 80 people.

Wasatch Photonics joins under the FOSS Photonics umbrella, led FOSS CEO Kim Vejlby Hansen, who serves as chairman or board member in all companies. Including Wasatch, all businesses will continue to be managed as separate entities. FOSS is planning to expand the portfolio through further investments in photonics.

The Wasatch acquisition is the largest in FOSS' history, and its fourth investment in photonics. The company acquired Ibsen Photonics, also leading a gratings developer and manufacturer, in 2010.
