With its advanced optical service transport system successfully launched at the Supercomm trade show last month, Israel-based PacketLight Networks has expanded its US operation, adding telecommunications industry veteran William E. (Rick) Talbot as director of product marketing. Talbot will lead the North American team in marketing the company's new all-packet optical multiple-service transport system.
    Novera Optics, a developer and manufacturer of photonic subsystems for communications equipment, announced that Thomas Carlson has been appointed chief financial officer. Carlson will have overall financial management and general administrative responsibility for the company. Carlson was previously the CFO and vice president of Finance and Administration at Silicon Gaming.
