Optelecom Inc. said its president and CEO, Irving Zaks, has resigned effective immediately. The company said in a statement that Clyde Heintzelman, chairman of Optelecom's board, will replace Zaks as interim president ant CEO. The company said Zaks resigned to pursue personal interests. The Metro Ethernet Forum announced its recent formation and its mission to accelerate the adoption of optical Ethernet technology in metro networks around the globe. The nonprofit forum was founded by a group of 37 companies including leading service providers, major incumbent local exchange carriers, top network equipment vendors and other prominent networking companies.
