J. Douglas Sinclair has joined Nova Crystals Inc. as vice president of Engineering. His responsibilities in this capacity will include device fabrication technology, process metrology, burn-in, reliability and testing procedures for the company's surface emitting laser technology. Sinclair has more than 28 years of experience with Bell Laboratories in various aspects of semiconductor device fabrication, packaging and reliability testing. Princeton Optronics announced that it will discuss the promise of integrating VCSEL and MEMS technologies with high-speed RF capabilities for developing a carrier-class tunable laser for the long-haul optical DWDM networking market at this year's CLEO/QELS Conference in Baltimore from May 7-11. Tunable lasers have offered to carriers the promise of providing more flexible and cost-effective provisioning than ever before, while reducing maintenance from months to minutes.
