BOC Edwards, a supplier of gas, chemical, vacuum and exhaust management systems to the flat panel and semiconductor industries, has received an order for more than 60 vacuum systems from Samsung Electronics for its TFT LCD (thin film transistor-liquid crystal display) manufacturing facility in Taenjong, South Korea. The order is scheduled to be shipped this month.    . . .    Universal Display Corp., a Ewing, N.J.-based developer of organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs), has reported record-breaking power efficiencies in a white OLED using Universal Display's phosphorescent OLED (PHOLED) technology. The advances were reported in a joint paper with Toyota Industries Corp., delivered at the 2004 Society for Information Display Conference, held last week in Seattle. Yeh-Jiun Tung, senior scientist at Universal Display, reported a white PHOLED device with a luminous efficiency of 38 cd/A and a power efficiency of 18.4 lm/W at 1000 cd/m2. Using a white OLED structure, this device also demonstrates white emission with a color rendering index of 79. Universal Display has been working with Toyota Industries since 2002 to develop its PHOLED technology for white backlighting applications.    . . .    Orbimage Inc., a satellite imaging company based in Dulles, Va. announced that Armand D. Mancini, its former executive vice president and CFO, has left the company to pursue other interests Mancini was a co-founder of the company's predecessor, Orbital Imaging Corp. A search firm is underway for a replacement.
