Zygo Corp. announced it has received orders worth more than $8 million for optical profiling systems used for topography measurement of photo spacers, critical to the flat panel assembly process, from multiple flat panel manufacturers. The company said it has also received an order from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Laboratory to supply a large beamsplitter assembly (LBSA) for use in a high-precision terrestrial laboratory-based optical test-bed. The LBSA consists of a large beamsplitter (LBS) in an LBS mount to provide ultraprecision pointing and stabilization of a high-power, high-quality laser beam for testing of free-space laser communication transceivers. Zygo, based in Middlefield, Conn., is a supplier of optical metrology instruments, precision optics and electro-optical design and manufacturing services to the semiconductor capital equipment and industrial markets. . . . Ogdensburg, N.Y.-based Cyber Technologies, a maker of laser-based metrology systems, has appointed new manufacturer's representatives in the Midwest and Southern California. Electronic Technology Corp. will represent the line in Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa, and Production Technology, of Garden Grove, Calif., will be its Southern California representative. . . . Jerry P. Widman and Timothy J. O'Shea have been appointed to the board of Cutera Inc. (formerly Altus Medical), a Brisbane, Calif., manufacturer of laser and light-based systems for hair removal and skin treatments. Widman was previously CFO of Ascension Health, a nonprofit multihospital system; O'Shea is corporate vice president of business development for Boston Scientific Corp.
