Photo Emission Technology Inc., a Newbury Park, Calif., maker of cleaning validation equipment, has appointed Art Gillman, of Unique Equipment Corp., in Montrose, as director of sales for its surface quality monitors, ultraviolet spot-curing equipment and solar simulators. . . . Indigo Systems, a business unit of FLIR Systems, has received a new contract from Mine Safety Appliance Co., (MSA) for the delivery of uncooled infrared imaging engines to be used in MSA's hand-held thermal imaging products for the fire service industry. Deliveries will begin this month. . . . Konarka Technologies Inc. announced it has appointed Donald Fitzmaurice and Justin Adams to its board of advisors. Konarka, based in Lowell, Mass., is a developer of polymer photovoltaic nanotechnology. Fitzmaurice is a professor of nanochemistry at University College, Dublin. He has recently joined Draper Fisher Jurvetson, a venture capital fund with a focus on nanotechnology, as a venture partner. Adams is CEO of High Power Lithium, a Swiss battery company developing nanomaterials and advanced electrolytes for next-generation Li-ion batteries to be deployed in hybrid electric vehicles. Konarka previously announced it has hired Daniel Patrick McGahn, former COO of carbon nanotube developer Hyperion Catalysis, as its executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
