Si-Light Technologies Ltd., a startup company in Guildford, England, said it will investigate low-cost applications of its dislocation engineering technology, which enables light emission from silicon in the 1.1 µm to 1.6 µm wavelength region. Potential applications include integrated circuit optical interconnects, microelectromechanical sytems, lab-on-a-chip technology and sensor systems. The project is funded by the UK-sponsored DTI SMART Feasibility program.   . . .   Fairchild Semiconductor, has made equipment transfer and product supply agreements with Lite-On Technology Corp. of Taiwan. The agreements will facilitate Fairchild's plans to close its Wuxi, China and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia manufacturing facilities. Lite-On will purchase manufacturing equipment in those facilities from Fairchild over the next six months. Under a separate product supply agreement, Lite-On will manufacture infrared devices, optocouplers and displays for Fairchild.   . . .   Rockwell Scientific Co. LLC, a developer of electronics, imaging, optics, materials and information sciences technology, has announced that the new name of its licensing group will be Rockwell Scientific Licensing (RSL). RSL provides all out-licensing services for Rockwell Scientific and is the licensing agent for Rockwell Collins and Rockwell Automation technologies.
