Marking its entry into the European avionics sector, Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands announced at the Paris Air Show last week that it has received an order for its active-matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD) technology from Smiths Aerospace (Cheltenham, England). Philips will deliver customized 4x4 AMLCD modules for integration into primary flight-control instrumentation as part of a commercial airline's cockpit upgrade program.
