Resonance Photonics Inc. recently recruited world-renowned fiber optics and integrated optics expert John Lit as a research scientist. Lit has published more than 200 research papers and has played a key role in the development of the theory of wave propagation. In his new position, Lit will use his background in fiber lasers and resonators to help the company with its current push to develop the next generation of fiber laser components for Raman amplification.
    Polatis, a Cambridge, England-based developer of fiber optic switches for telecommunications equipment manufacturers, announced the appointment of Elmo Perera as COO. Perera will play a key role in the development and rollout of Polatis all-optical switches. Perera's career encompasses more than 12 years of international experience across a diverse range of business activities. Perera was previously the head of Micro-Engineering at GEC Marconi, where he was responsible for the profitable commercialization of new products.
