Network Photonics Inc., an optical networking company headquartered in Boulder, Colo., announced its first international expansion with the opening of an office in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Optical network architect, Rainer Irashko, previously of Bell Canada, MCI WorldCom and ONI Systems, will head the facility.
    Marconi, a provider of advanced communications solutions, confirmed that Sir Roger Hurn will retire both as chairman and from the board. Lord Simpson will take on the roll of chairman and John Mayo will become chief executive.
