Jasjit Suri, PhD, has been named director of applied research and development at Fischer Imaging Corp., a Denver, Colo., maker of medical imaging systems focusing on women's health, particularly digital imaging for breast cancer screening. In addition to developing technology for new and existing products, he will lead a joint effort with Philips Medical Systems, under a grant from the National Cancer Institute, to study the feasibility of an integrated ultrasound and digital mammography system.    . . .    eMagin Corp., a Fishkill, N.Y.-based developer of organic light-emitting diode (OLED)-on-silicon microdisplay technology, announced it has received US patent 10,017,769, "Three-dimensional display emulation method and system," for a stereoscopic display device incorporating a pair of OLED microdisplays in a near-eye display. The company said applications could include CAD visual simulation and virtual reality, for example camera viewfinders, handheld phones with large virtual screens and head-mounted wearable computers.
