Solectron Corp., provider of electronics manufacturing and supply-chain management services, announced that Kiran Patel has joined the company as a senior vice president and officer. Effective Sept. 1, Patel will become Solectron's chief financial officer and assume responsibility for Solectron's legal department.
   PerkinElmer Instruments announced the donation of charitable grants totaling more than $38,000 to nonprofit organizations in the local Shelton community. In an effort to promote future leaders and facilitate the involvement of minorities in science and technology, the funds from the PerkinElmer Foundation are targeted towards educational institutions.
