PLANO, Texas, Jan. 20, 2021 — Mobile transport, broadband access, and enterprise networking solutions provider DZS has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Optelian, an optical networking company based in Ottawa, Ontario, and its portfolio of optical transport solutions. Optelian’s solutions have completed the Telcordia OSMINE certification process required for deployment by Tier 1 service providers in North America and will form a new DZS “O-series” product line. The acquisition provides DZS with intellectual property and products, as well as bolstering research and development, operations, and sales and corporate functions.
In a DZS press release, the company said that the acquired assets will enhance its xHaul and broadband access solutions portfolios with optical systems that complement its portfolio of packet-based products. The result, the company said, will be a comprehensive solutions portfolio with both optical and packet-based networking options that can deliver on the performance, flexibility, scalability, and ultralow latency necessary to support the fast growing 5G and 10-gig-class optical broadband markets worldwide.
Terms of the agreement have not be disclosed.
