PARSIPPANY, N.J., Jan. 15 -- DRS Technologies Inc. announced it has received new contracts to provide ultrahigh-speed digital imaging systems for domestic and international military and commercial customers.
Designed to capture and measure movement in time frames as brief as a nanosecond or less, these cameras will be used to provide analysis of high-speed events for design improvements and enhanced reliability in equipment and processes for military, scientific and industrial applications.
The contracts, with a combined value of $5 million, were awarded to DRS by customers in the US, Japan and Europe. Work for these awards will be accomplished by the company's DRS Hadland Ltd. unit in Tring, Hertfordshire in the UK, and is expected to be completed by March 2003. For these new contracts, the company will produce the Imacon 200 and a various ultrahigh-speed framing camera, the Imacon 500 ultrahigh-speed streak camera, SVR III electronic ballistic range camera and the Flight Follower system, used with high-speed cameras for projectile tracking.
