Cree Hires Soo Ghee Lee and Wayne Nesbit

Cree Inc. announced yesterday that it has hired Soo Ghee Lee as vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific, and Wayne Nesbit as vice president, worldwide manufacturing. Lee will be responsible for developing new revenue streams and building customer relationships in the Asia Pacific region. He comes to Cree with more than 25 years of optoelectronics experience, most recently with Avago Technologies, where he was vice president and general manager for the solid-state illumination division. His appointment is effective immediately and he will be based in Penang, Malaysia. Nesbit most recently served as senior vice president, operations, at Mindspeed Technologies and also spent 17 years at Motorola in various global semiconductor management roles. He will oversee Cree's global manufacturing operations. Nesbit's appointment is effective Jan. 21 and he will be based in Durham, N.C. Cree, which has its headquarters in Durham, makes semiconductors and devices used in solid-state lighting, power and communications products, including blue and green LED chips, lighting LEDs, LEDs for backlighting, power-switching devices and radio-frequency/wireless devices.
