CORNING, N.Y., July 11 -- Corning Inc. and Akara announced plans to jointly demonstrate a cost-effective storage extension solution utilizing Corning MetroCor optical fiber and Akara's optical services management solution at the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (NFOEC 2001) July 9-11 in Baltimore, Maryland. The demonstration will simulate a "back-up" application between an enterprise's primary data center and a remote backup site with more than 200 kilometers of MetroCor fiber operating without dispersion compensation. The demonstration will be available to attendees during exhibition hours at Akara's booth (#6356).
