WILMINGTON, Mass., Aug. 18 -- CoreTek has opened a 33,000 square foot facility to produce tunable components for use in optical networks. The full process facility includes production grade fabrication, thin film deposition and packaging capabilities, and specialized device and package test capabilities. Approximately one-third of the facility is dedicated to clean room space, including Class 100 space for device fabrication. In addition to production facilities the new building will house laboratories for ongoing development of tunable component products. The new facility is located about 10 miles north of CoreTek's existing facility in Burlington, Mass., in what has come to be known as the Photon Valley area. The Burlington facility will be used for co-production until the production processes at the new facility have been qualified and proven. Eventually the Burlington facility will house the company's research and development activities focusing on solutions for all-optical networks.
