CAMBRIDGE, UK, Oct. 22 -- Cambridge Display Technology, a researcher and commercial developer of light-emitting polymers (LEPs), was selected recently to develop a prototype handheld LEP display for the National Imagery and Mapping Agency.
The prototype handheld tactical device will use a red/near-infrared monochrome LEP display, designated a covert red/infrared viewer, and represents a new class of displays to be used by US armed forces and the intelligence community in its Situational Awareness and Planning Systems. It is designed to be easily seen during the day or night, with optional night-only use with goggles. Subsequent phases of the project may include a full-color display and a flexible display format.
