Optical component manufacturer CVI Technical Optics of Albuquerque, N.M., announced it has extended its agreement with electronics and photonics products distributor BFi OPTiLAS of Evry, France, to include the United Kingdom. The original distribution agreement was established in June 2005 to include Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherlands. In other company news, CVI said it has completed the integration of Quality Laser Optics and appointed Gary Thomas as large optics business development manager. CVI said the Quality Laser Optics (QLO) business, all employees and the equipment in Ballasalla, Isle of Man, were relocated to CVI’s manufacturing facility in Onchan, Isle of Man. CVI acquired QLO in April and said it now boasts the largest polishing lap in the UK, capable of polishing optics up to 1 meter in diameter with a surface figure of λ/10 over any 12-in. diameter (subject to material type, thickness of optic and shape of optic). CVI uses a 12-in. Zygo interferometer to certify this performance.
