CTI Molecular Imaging Acquires ImTek

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 8 -- CTI Molecular Imaging Inc., a provider of positron emission tomography (PET) equipment, molecular imaging biomarkers and services, announced today it has acquired ImTek Inc., maker of MicroCAT scanners, micro-computed tomography (CT) systems used for small-animal imaging in medical research.

The acquisition price for ImTek was $3.75 million, plus the potential for incentive payments. CTI Molecular Imaging said the acquisition augments its capabilities to serve the research and pharmaceutical markets, particularly as a provider of small-animal imaging systems.

"Almost half of ImTek's customer base also owns at least one microPET system manufactured by our business unit, CTI Concorde," said Robert Nutt, president of CTI Concorde. "We see opportunities to market a higher number of small-animal CT and PET systems to this customer base with a combined sales initiative."

The acquisition has been structured as a cash transaction and will close before the end of this month, CTI said.
