Bruker Daltonics Detectors Get Radiation Safety Exemption
Field analytical systems and life sciences tools developer Bruker Daltonics of Billerica, Mass. today announced that its Raid IMS (ion mobility spectrometry) chemical detectors have received an exemption from radiation safety requirements from the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The license exemption means the instruments don't have to be registered, licensed or leak tested, and the operator doesn't have to keep records or meet special disposal requirements. The IMS chemical detectors use a low intensity radiation source in a closed system to ionize air samples for analysis. They can detect and identify up to 20 chemical agents and toxic industrial chemicals and can monitor facilities and public buildings on a continuous basis, the company said.
