Bivar Forms Solid-State Lighting Unit

Optoelectronics maker Bivar Inc. of Irvine, Calif., announced it has formed an Engineered Illumination business unit to provide energy efficient, aesthetically enhanced solid-state lighting (SSL) products for industrial applications. "OEMs are accelerating their transition from traditional lighting to SSL solutions across industrial markets and applications,” said Michael Finn, Bivar’s vice president of strategic business development. "We are addressing the growing demand for improved ways to light existing products, and the evolutional need for application-specific configurations to illuminate new products. With our dedicated business unit, Bivar is now poised to deliver innovative SSL solutions to a broad spectrum of vertical markets." The company said the unit will initially focus on products that provide directional lighting in industrial applications including: Kiosk, vending, enclosures, refrigerated cabinets, instrumentation, transportation equipment, and industrial machinery and controls.
